In the field for more than 25 years, Joy is the founder of the Growth & Recovery Counseling Center in Trinity.

Joy specializes in the treatment of adults who struggle with eating disorders, depression, high levels of stress, anxiety, and issues with body image and self esteem. Her current focus and great passion is working with men & women exclusively in groups.

She has served as an eating disorders expert and writer for goodtherapy.org, is an active member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals, and has been awarded certification as an eating disorders specialist (CEDS). 

Joy frequently incorporates art, music, meditations, structured journaling and other creative approaches into her psychotherapy sessions when clients wish to explore issues beyond the spoken word.  Joy is known for her love for her work, her affirming, gentle-but-direct style, and her ability to connect with clients in a real and personal way.

Jackie Breuer, LMFT

Jackie has worked in the mental health field for almost 2 decades providing individual, family, and couples counseling. She has a special heart for working with adults who struggle with low self-esteem, depression/anxiety, and codependency issues. Jackie helps her clients build stronger relationships, reduce family conflict, and adjust to difficult life transitions together. She also has additional training in providing EMDR, a specialized intervention for trauma survivors.

Described by colleagues & clients as highly-skilled, sensitive and a person of genuine warmth, Jackie is available Tuesdays through Thursdays, both day and evening timeslots.  She accepts Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, Magellan, Humana, Prime Health, Single Care, New Directions EAP, Health Advocates EAPs, and self-pay arrangements.

 
Adelina Liberto, LCSW

For two decades Lina has provided psychotherapy for children ages 6 - 12, adolescents, young adults & their families. She is highly experienced in play therapy techniques and specializes in helping clients address stress, loss, low self-esteem, parenting concerns, trauma, abuse, lost trust in relationships, divorce aftermath, anxiety and depression.  
 
Lina will provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where you can strengthen your capacity to engage with others, navigate through what is making you feel stuck, enhance your problem-solving skills, and generate a solid plan of action.  
 
She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in social work from New York University.  She is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers and earned an Academy of Certified Social Workers designation through NASW in 1994.  
 
Adelina is fluent in Spanish and available to see clients weekdays as well as one evening per week. Adelina accepts the following insurances: Blue Cross, Baycare, Cigna, Humana, Lifeworks EAP, Magellan, and United Healthcare, as well as self-pay.
 
 

Ben Hatcher, MDiv
MFT Clinical Student Intern

Ben joins us for his clinical internship while he completes his Masters degree in Marriage & Family Therapy.  Ben also has a Masters in Divinity and draws from his background working with an interdenominational campus ministry mentoring college students and training staff.  As a campus minister, he was often the first person a student would talk to about emotional or relational difficulties they were experiencing. This included situations involving trauma, addictions, anxiety, grief, depression, and more. In addition, he has worked with couples considering marriage or processing through marital challenges.  Ben incorporates a Christian-faith based approach whenever clients desire. Under the clinical supervision of Jackie Breuer, LMFT, he works with all ages and provides individual, couples, and family therapies.  He sees clients Thursday afternoons & Saturday mornings.  As a student intern, Ben sees clients for only $25/session and does not accept insurance.

 

Andrea Dolgin, BA
MSW Clinical Student Intern

With a previous career in law and a background in volunteering with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, Andrea is now working on her master of social work degree at USF.  In her second year with Growth & Recovery, she is available to see adolescents and adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, low self esteem, emotional eating, and stress management.  Under the clinical supervision of Joy Davis, LCSW, Andrea works individually with clients and co-facilitates therapy groups.

Andrea has office hours on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  As a student intern, Andrea sees clients for only $25/session and does not accept insurance.

 

Alexa Buford, BA
MSW Clinical Student Intern

Alexa is the newest student addition to our team. Alexa uses a variety of approaches in therapy including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, meditation, and art.  She helps teens & adults find better balance in their lives and address struggles with general mental health concerns, substance use disorders, and relationship problems.  She has a special interest in helping clients overcome eating disorders and body image/self esteem concerns.  In addition to becoming a psychotherapist, Alexa is also a registered yoga instructor.

Alexa has office hours on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.  As a student intern, she sees clients for only $25/session and does not accept insurance.

Dr. Altabe is a remote affiliate of Growth & Recovery.  After relocating to Atlanta, she opened her practice to telehealth to continue to work with Florida clients and to offer telehealth to individuals who may have difficulty maintaining regular appointments due to chronic health conditions or caregiving responsibilities. Some insurances cover telehealth.
 
Dr. Altabe is also available for bariatric surgery assessments in our Trinity office. Insurances accepted include: BC/BS, Aetna, Medicare, Multiplan, and Tricare.

Patricia is a bilingual licensed therapist who specializes in treating children as young as 8, adolescents, and adults for eating disorders, anxiety, OCD & related compulsive disorders, and PTSD.  She also specializes in exposure and response prevention therapy to address these issues.  As needed, Patricia will work with clients out in the community to provide meal coaching and anxiety/OCD response prevention coaching.  Patricia offers empathic, holistic and evidence-based methods of treating her clients.  Additionally, with her certified background as a yoga teacher, she will include meditative and grounding aspects in her approach to helping clients manage anxiety symptoms.

Brooke specializes in helping adult clients resolve painful reactions to traumatic event(s).  Her techniques include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing), PE (Prolonged Exposure Therapy) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, often resulting in substantial relief in under 12 sessions. She has extensive experience working with veterans, receiving numerous awards for her service to this population.  Brooke finds these methods also helpful for anyone who feels "stuck" or "unable to get past" a disturbing life event, or for those whose self-esteem has been deeply damaged from specific past experiences.
